Although none of us managed to do much travelling in 2020 I was lucky enough to travel for the first few months before we were all hit with lockdown. I spent the whole of lockdown in Malaysia and in my view it was one of the best countries to be “stuck” in as my tourist visa was extended with each lockdown extension.
I started the MCO or movement control order (Malaysian name for lockdown) in Kota Kinabalu which is the capital of the state of Sabah in Borneo. After the initial three month stint here my girlfriend and I travelled to Kuala Lumper but not being “city people” and with the lockdown easing and allowing interstate traveling we moved to Langkawi after just four weeks. Something about beaches, mountains, clean air and beautiful wildlife just called to us. We have spent 9 months on the island before moving back to Mexico in early 2021.
At the start of 2020 I made it to Singapore, Malaysia (obviously) both mainland and Borneo, Sumatra and Myanmar. So, I have a good selection of photos to choose from. I have managed to explore all of Langkawi and after a slight mishap with my drone (it falling out of the sky over a harbor) I have become more familiar with the drone and it’s capabilities. Whenever I am out and about, I usually have my camera with me just so I don’t miss any photo opportunities, which has happened a few times and it’s really frustrating.
Anyway, here are my favorite pictures from 2020, let me know what you think and which ones are your favorite.
My Most Memorable Moment
One moment that will stick with me forever is my time spent with the Mentawai. I was fortunate enough to join my host Aman Tiru on a hunt. Here is a photo of him stalking his prey.
